thangkabuddha
These are Tangka hand ropes from Wutai Mountain. There are three different deities on the hand ropes. Through the consecration by the monks in Wutai Mountain, each of them has different wonderful implications.
  1. Manjushri Bodhisattva: It helps with your studies and career and assists you in "reaching the shore". In academic terms, "reaching the shore" means passing exams to achieve goals and get out of difficulties, such as being admitted to postgraduate or doctoral programs. In the workplace, for example, unemployed people will find a good job. In China, becoming a government employee is also called "reaching the shore", that is, "passing the civil service exam and reaching the shore".
  2. Lord Wuye of Wutai Mountain: It helps you achieve success in your career and obtain financial luck.
  3. Fengjiu, the Fox Immortal: It helps you obtain a happy marriage. It also helps you encounter unexpected financial gains. "Unexpected financial gains" means obtaining financial luck accidentally, such as winning the lottery.

Lord Wuye of Wutai Mountain, also known as Guangji Dragon King Bodhisattva, Five Dragon Kings, etc. According to legend, Manjushri Bodhisattva borrowed the Cool Stone from the East Sea Dragon Palace to save the common people and placed it on the top of Wutai Mountain. The five sons of the Dragon King chased after it to Wutai Mountain to demand the Cool Stone. They were subdued by Manjughtri Bodhisattva and placed on the five peaks of Wutai Mountain, becoming the guardian deities of Wutai Mountain. The fifth son among them is called Lord Wuye.

At night, he had a similar experience. A woman made some flirtatious moves towards him, but he dispelled them by chanting the Buddha's name. The next day, a monk told him that the woman was the Fox Immortal on Fanjian Mountain and was giving him advice to be calm and steady when facing things. Later, the scholar returned to his hometown and won the imperial examinations the next year, enjoying a prosperous official career.
